Dear Students and Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to participate at the 17^th National Higher Education Student Conference for Environmental Science (OFKD_2020) organized by Szent István University, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences between the 6^th and 7^th of April, 2020.

You may apply by a 20–50 pages scientific dissertation prepared in the field of environmental science in its broadest sense (general environmental and sustainability issues; environmental status assessment or measurement; development of environmental technologies; regulation and legislation measures; theoretical considerations, climate change issues etc.) and prepared in the second semester of the academic year 2017/2018, or in the academic years 2018/2019 or 2019/2020 by non-PhD students enrolled in a Hungarian higher education institution. Though the basic language of OFKD_2020 is Hungarian, a special English session for those students who do not speak Hungarian will be organised. In this session the presentation, discussion and evaluation will be managed in English.

Colleagues, especially supervisors, are strongly encouraged to stimulate their students for the participation at the OFKD_2020.

The conditions to accept and evaluate a dissertation are followings: i) the presentation of a relevant environmental, sustainability or nature conservation etc. topic, ii) the presentation of independent and original work and results, and iii) the dissertation has passed through earlier any kind of evaluation (e.g. thesis review, former oral presentation at a scientific session / conference, institutional student competition or Scientific Students' Association Conference at Hungarian university faculty).

Depending on the number and topic of the submitted dissertations, sessions will be organized by the Scientific Committee of the Conference with around 10 presentations each (http://ofkd2020.hu/program).

The 17^th National Higher Education Student Conference for Environmental Science is an opportunity to introduce your work to the Hungarian environmental science researcher community, and is also a kind of fair to those who are interested in future PhD studies. But, dissertations / presenters are eligible to prizes, too. The Evaluation Committee (Scientific Jury) will mark the top 25–30% of the dissertations / presentations. Pries are funded by the sponsors of the OFKD_2020. Prizes rank the most excellent among the best!

Sustainability and unpolluted environment is our concerted responsibility. Students do the utmost to a sustainable environment by knowledge-shearing. Come and participate at this important celebration and competition of environmental science at Gödöllő!

Registration

1. Registration can only be done through the following online platform: https://e-conf.com/ofkd2020/registration/

Please give your personal data and contact information as requested. The system will send you an email for registration confirmation and will provide an individual password.

2. Registration and abstract submission deadline: 10^th February 2020

The size of the abstract should not exceed 2 500 characters (with spaces). It should not contain figures or tables. At the beginning of the abstract one shall add the details (name, status, higher education affiliation) of the supervisor(s). We advise you to prepare the abstract body in a MS Word. The edited text should be pasted to the space added in the electronic system.

3. Dissertation submission deadline: 15^th February 2020

The final version of the dissertation organized into one single PDF file should be submitted through the official website of OFKD_2020 by no later than 15^th of March 2020. The file size should not exceed 20 MB. Label the file as follows: your name / university / faculty abbreviations (e.g. Juhasz_Bela_SZIE_MKK.pdf).

IMPORTANT! Registration and dissertation submission will only be accepted if accomplished through the online platform of the conference. Submission in email, fax or paper copy will not be accepted and reviewed!

Payment

Please make the payment to the account number indicated on the pro forma invoice, which can be downloaded from the system. Upon receipt of the transfer we will issue an invoice and after the event a final invoice will be issued as well. Please note that applying online is an order and will incur a payment obligation.

Terms of participation

1. Online registration through the official platform.

2. Submission of the dissertation and the required documents (student's declaration form, institutional justification form) until the deadline.

3. Payment of the entry and registration fee in due time.

Institutional justification

The institutional justification is an official statement that the dissertation passed through earlier any kind of evaluation, i.e. authorization (e.g. thesis review, former oral presentation at a scientific session, institutional student competition etc.). Justifications shall be issued by the university / faculty / institute. It shall contain the personal data of the student, the title of the dissertation; the personal data of the supervisor(s), and the type, and date of the previous evaluation. Justification shall be officially signed!

The institutional justification form should be attached to the end of the dissertation and uploaded through the online platform together with the dissertation.

Student's declaration form

The student's declaration form should be attached to the end of the dissertation and uploaded through the online platform together with the dissertation. The form must be signed by the student(s) and the supervisor(s) as well.

Scientific sessions, jury and review process

Dissertations should be assigned to the sessions listed in the drop-down menu during online registration. The assignment of entries will be reviewed by the organising committee and may modify it if necessary. The organising committee assigns a jury to each session and forwards the dissertation for review prior to the conference. Completed reviews will be sent to the registered participants by the 1^st of April 2020.

IMPORTANT! English dissertation can only be submitted to the „Environmental Science Session”!

Oral presentation

Authors of the scientific dissertations give a 10 minute ppt presentation, followed by a 10 minute discussion. Based on the pre-conference review of the dissertations, and the quality of presentation, authors with the best performance will be awarded prizes by the Organizing Committee.

Presenting authors shall upload their presentations on the first day of the Student Conference. Standard audio-visual equipment will be provided.

Meals and conference dinner

More restaurants are available within the Campus of Szent István University. These are indicated on the website of the OFKD_2020 (www.ofkd2020.hu). Separate places will be available in these restaurants for the conference participants.

Lunch shall be taken care of individually. A 90 minutes long lunch break will be inserted in the conference programme on the first day of the event.

Conference dinner on the 6^th of April will be held by 19:30. Participation on the evening event is covered by the registration fee.
